We all know that an identification tag is one of the most important things for a lost pet. Without a Pet ID Tag, your pet will likely end up in a shelter or pound unless you are lucky enough to have success posting fliers in your surrounding area. So, if you have a new puppy or kitten, buying an ID tag should be one of the first steps you take to ensure your pet's safety. This information that follows should help you in your search for a custom ID tag for your beloved pet.
What information should I include on my pet's name tag? We offer four lines on each engraved pet ID tag. When choosing your personalized text, think about what will get your pet home - that's the number one priority for dog tags for dogs and cat tags for cats. We suggest your pet's name, address, and the phone number you have access to the most. Alternatively, you could use your pet's name, your name, and two important phone numbers. Remember, your pet is not being mailed to you, so if you are deciding between phone numbers or a complete address, it's best to opt for phone numbers. Likewise, the other thing to consider is making sure the information is clearly printed. While we have settings to limit the number of characters per line appropriate for legibility on each pet identification tag, the less characters on the tag, the larger the print and better the clarity. So, consider eliminating things like zip codes and area code brackets, and remember to use abbreviations where possible (i.e ST instead of STREET). We engrave in capital letters ALWAYS to ensure clear, bold, long lasting print on your dog ID tag or cat ID tag.
What kind of print is best for a pet identification tag? I've heard of stamped, diamond engraved, laser engraved, and printed... Well, we're a little biased here, because we are not a fan of stamped, laser engraved, or (ack!) printed tags. Your pet should already have a rabies vaccination tag and/or local pet license tag. Take a look - odds are the method they used was stamping. Stamping is usually used on tags that get replaced annually. Printed tags should never be used because there is a risk of fading lettering, which is no help at all for a lost pet. Engraved tags will give the best cut and longest lasting text. We believe diamond engraving is superior to laser engraving in terms of durability. We diamond engrave each pet identification tag with a high pressure engraving machine for the best results. It's our goal to make sure that if your pet is ever lost, our engraved pet identification tag will help pooch or kitty home safely.
What about color and shape? Choices, choices, choices! Color is all about personal preference. Because we diamond engrave our tags, all colors reflect text clearly. Think about your pet's fur color when choosing a color for your dog tag or cat tag. If you have a black cat, maybe the red mouse would look sharp. Have a white dog? Try a black bone shaped pet id tag. Green tags look nice on brown and brindle dogs. Let's not forget HOT PINK for the lady dogs and cats! While we have chosen the pet id tag shapes we think look best, we do think that the bone shaped dog tag and octagon shaped pet tags fit text the best. The other tags we offer are nice too - there is a wide selection available on the web, but we've narrowed them down to the best - most simple and effective - pet identification tags.
How long should it take to get my custom personalized pet tag, and at what cost?A good provider should ship a single pet identification tag in 3 days or less. Beware sites that do not say how long it takes to fill orders. Also, you want a website to disclose any shipping and handling charges up front. We believe we offer an excellent value at $5.00 per pet ID tag, and free shipping/handling on all orders, no matter what size. Many sites will advertise cheaper prices, but then you find that they have an additional shipping and handling charge often more than the cost of an envelope and a stamp! |
